Here discuss some common mold accessories that being implemented in mold design.
- Dial gage
In mold design, it is usually being installed at operating side of mold base. The purpose is to monitor the real time movement of mold during molding process. If the movement is too big, it could lead to flash issue on part. If the movement is too small, the clamping force is too big. It could lead to lack of venting/short shot on the part and mold life reduction due to steel deformation since unnecessary big clamping force applied by IMM. The injection/holding pressure or clamping force shall be adjusted accordingly.


- Sensor inside cavity
More information see D-4. The purpose is to monitor the environment change/variation inside cavity including pressure, temperature…etc. This sensor could help manufacturer to have better understanding regarding the real time condition inside mold during molding process and react more timely.

- Shot counter
Records and displays the shots no. which already being produced by the mold.

- Lift ring
To be installed on the out side of mold, so the mold could be able to be lifted and transport easily.
Note: In the mold design phase, it is very important to ensure that the balance of lift ring installation. Safety is the first priority in the factory and the balance during mold lift must be ensured.

- Limit switch
The purpose is to ensure every mold movement performs properly and sequentially, in order to prevent any unnecessary damage during molding process. For example:
- If the ejection system does not return properly before mold close, the ejector pin could damage the opposite side cavity.
- If the core pulling does not return properly before mold close, the core could damage the cavity area.

- Cylinder
Hydraulic cylinder provides more movements and enables more complicated mold and part design, includes:
a. Forced ejection
b. Valve pin control
c. Core pulling/slider
d. Others

- Lock piece
Ensures the fixed and moving side of mold close properly while lifting/transportation, for safety purpose.

- Insulate plate
Prevent the heat inside mold and cooling channels being transferred to IMM, in order to maintain mold temperature.
